Hockey Has Grown 110% In Georgia, Says New York Times

In a fun graphic from the New York Times, and an excellent analysis from the hockey blog View from 111, some ammo’s out there for future investors in the Atlanta Thrashers. Community involvement is always something professional sports teams look for, and there’s a huge market for involvement here in Georgia. From mite hockey with waiting lists miles long all the way up to college club hockey that has a fighting chance to make it to the NCAA level, there’re opportunities for the new owners of the Thrashers to generate goodwill in the community and help the sport grow.

Toss in the fact that we’re starting to grow NHL draft picks, and you have a very appealing situation for potential new owners who want their fingerprints on the future of hockey in Georgia.
