Brian Oliver Thumb Injury: The Jackets Will Be Without Their Third-Leading Scorer For 2-3 Weeks

Georgia Tech forward Brian Oliver had successful surgery on his thumb today and is expected to be out for 2-3 weeks. He had two pins inserted into his left thumb and hopes to be back earlier than expected.

Oliver broke his thumb early in the Clemson game while fighting for a rebound. He continued the rest of the game and tried to practice on Monday but was unable to play.

The sophomore is the team's third highest scorer this season averaging 10.9 points per game in 28.5 minutes played. He had a huge night with 28 points in the win over Virginia Tech but has struggled with consistency recently, only getting to double figures in four of the last 12 games.

The Jackets return to action Thursday night when they host FSU and then hit the road to face Virginia Tech Sunday afternoon. Tech has been without center Nate Hicks for the past three games, but the freshman is expected to make his return Thursday night.
