South Georgia high school knocked off favored Whitefield Academy 66-63 to earn a spot in the Class A Championship game on Saturday. Whitefield is a two-time Class A champion and also finished as runner up last season. (For more high school sports, visit SB Nation's High School March Madness hub.)
In the other semi-final, Wilkinson County defeated Greenville by a score of 66-49. The Warriors are the last undefeated boys team in the state at 27-0. University of Georgia recruit and McDonald's All-American Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 19 points in the loss.
In the Class 4A semi finals, Miller Grove defeated Jonesboro to earn a trip into Friday's finals. After trailing by as many as five points in the second quarter, Miller Grove finished the half on a 11-2 run and never looked back. Blue-chip junior prospect Tony Parker scored 19 points for Miller Grove.
Their opponent in Friday's finals will be Rockdale County after they defeated Fayette County by a score of 66-64. Rockdale is led by Kevin Ware who scored 18 points. Ware will be playing basketball at Tennessee next season.
The 4A Championships will take place Friday at Gwinnett Arena while the Class A Championships will take place on Saturday in Macon.
