Atlanta Motor Speedway's New "Buzz Cars" To Debut April 10

Folks traveling to the Atlanta Motor Speedway for the rescheduled INEX event on April 10 will take in an additional treat on the quarter-mile Thunder Ring: the exhibition debut of Thursday Thunder's newest division, the Buzz Cars!

Not all that dissimilar from the Street Stocks that are popular at short tracks around the country, the four-cylinder Buzz Cars are designed to create an inexpensive entry point for racing enthusiasts looking to get in on the action. The cars are minimally upgraded, with emphasis placed on safety modifications, in order to promote both a competitive and low-cost playing field for competitors.

The Buzz Cars are slated to join the Thursday Thunder roster, highlighted by the flagship Legends cars and also featuring Bandolerosand Thunder Roadsters, when the new season opens on June 2. Thursday Thunder is the Atlanta Motor Speedway's popular, family-friendly summer series featuring eight different classes of racing that runs ten events from June through August. In addition to the grass roots short track action, there is a wide variety of other fun and entertainment for the whole family to take in. Tickets are just $5 for adults, while children ages 6-11 can take in the action for a buck and kids under six get in free.

The INEX race, originally scheduled for March 5, was postponed due to anticipated bad weather. The event  pays points towards the national Legends car, Bandolero, and Thunder Roadster championships.

The grandstands are closed during the Thursday Thunder offseason, but fans can purchase a $12 Infield pass to get an up-close and personal first look at the Buzz Cars, as well as the INEX action. For more information, view the official press release at the Atlanta Motor Speedway website. Additional information on Thursday Thunder, as well as competitor information for the new Buzz Car class, can be found here.
