Spring Baseball Classic For Kids: Georgia Tech Looks For Season Sweep Of Georgia At Turner Field

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (30-11) will attempt to finish a season sweep of the Georgia Bulldogs (21-20) Tuesday night at the ninth annual Spring Baseball Classic for Kids at Turner field. First pitch is at 7 p.m. and can be seen on Fox Sports South.

Tuesday's matchup features Matthew Grimes (5-2, 4.01, 48 K) for the Jackets against Ben Crowell (1-3, 5.84, 17 K). Two of Grimes' wins this season have come against Georgia, while the Tech hitters will face Crowell for the first time this year.

Georgia Tech came away with a 15-6 win in Athens in the first game between the two squads on March 22. Matt Skole hit two home runs on the way to an eight RBI day, the most for any ACC player in a game in 2011. Grimes put forth the best effort of his young career in the second matchup on April 12, posting 10 strikeouts in 6.2 innings pitched in a 5-3 win in Atlanta.

The 9th ranked Jackets are coming off a series sweep of Boston College this past weekend, while Georgia picked up a big series win over Tennessee. Tech swept the Bulldogs last season, and could do so for the second straight year with a win Tuesday night.

Georgia hitters have combined to hit .277 and the pitchers hold a 4.70 ERA. Tech has a batting average of .317 to lead the ACC and has the second best ERA at 2.76.
