Josh Smith Knee Injury Will Keep Hawks Forward Out Of Spurs Game

Josh Smith will miss tonight’s game against the San Antonio Spurs with a right knee injury, according to the team. Smith had dubbed himself day-to-day earlier in the … day, though perhaps hour-to-hour would’ve been more appropriate?

We’ve seen how delicate this team is without either of its key big men. While an Al Horford injury means it’s time to lay a few bucks against the home team (it’s called hedging your fandom, and there’s nothing wrong with it), a game without Smoove against one of the NBA’s best teams is cause for concern.

Sure, San Antonio is banged up and incredibly old, but Tim Duncan’s back. The Hawks have a chance to prove their loss to the Houston Rockets during WrestleMania (WrestleMania was awesome!) was a fluke, and that the team that beat the Orlando Magic is the actual, late-season model of this year’s Hawks team. Or they can prove they’re totally the Hawks. Not sure which is which.
