Trey Thompkins and Travis Leslie have announced they'll give the 2011 NBA Draft a shot. Thompkins is all but officially gone, as he plans to hire an agent, but Leslie is testing the waters, giving him until early May to change his mind and return to Georgia Bulldogs basketball.
Thompkins, SEC preseason player of the year, was slowed by an injury early on in his final UGA season, but returned to lead the team to the brink of a NCAA Tournament win. The Lithonia native averaged 16.4 points and 7.6 rebounds.
High-flyin' Travis Leslie is going to be a NBA Slam Dunk Contest participant at some point in his career, but there's more to his game than just acrobatics. The six-foot-four guard from Decatur posted 14.4 points, 7.2 boards, and 2.9 assists this season.
Thompkins is likely to be a first-round pick, and could even sneak into the latter end of the lottery with some strong workout showings. Leslie, however, very well could be back in Athens this fall.
