Manny Atkins Transferring To Georgia State Basketball From Virginia Tech, According To Report

Georgia State basketball has put the cap on their 2011 signing class with former Tucker HS star Manny Atkins, according to OntheRadarHoops.com, which a reliable source has confirmed to SB Nation Atlanta. Atkins spent the last two seasons with Virginia Tech and averaged 4.9 points per game in 13.3 minutes per game in 2010.

The six-foot-seven, 200 pound small forward will sit out 2011-12 and be eligible for the 2012-13 season per NCAA mandated transfer rules.  At Tucker High, he was a three time All-State selection and averaged 24.6 points and 11.5 rebounds per game as a Senior, leading the Tigers to the state championship game in 2009.

Atkins joins highly regarded small forward Tony Kimbro, Jr. who signed with the Panthers on May 4. The Panthers led by new coach Ron Hunter will return four projected starters and have as many as six scholarships to offer for the 2012 recruiting cycle which begins in November.

Both Kimbro and Atkins are expected to join the Panthers summer workouts beginning in June.
