Russell Wilson Transfer Sought By Multiple SEC Schools, According To Report

Russell Wilson, perhaps the best player in the ACC* last year, was released from his N.C. State Wolfpack scholarship Friday by coach Tom O'Brien. The issues at stake, depending on who you believe: Wilson's commitment to football with a professional baseball future available, or O'Brien's early and apparent zeroing-in on Mike Glennon as the 2011 Pack starting QB.

Since Wilson has already graduated, he wouldn't have to sit out a season.

ESPN's Joe Schad reports "multiple unidentified SEC schools" have inquired with Wilson about obtaining his football services. The LSU Tigers, Auburn Tigers and South Carolina Gamecocks would be the most logical interested parties, though any school without a very clear No. 1 QB would have to consider bringing on the productive senior.

* - Tyrod Taylor, Da'Quan Bowers and Anthony Castonzo would certainly be in the argument, but I think Wilson did more with less around him than just about any player in the nation.
