Dale Earnhardt Jr. had a quarter of a lap seperating him from his first win in 104 races when his gas-starved Chevrolet engine sputtered, allowing Kevin Harvick to sweep past for the race lead - and the victory - off the final corner. Video:

It marked the second time in two races Sunday that the leader in the final corner did not take the checkered flag, after J.R. Hildebrand crashed from the lead off the last turn in the Indianapolis 500 - ironically while piloting a car with the same National Guard sponsorship as Earnhardt. It also marked the second time this year Earnhardt had lost a victory to Harvick with victory in sight, the first being Martinsville last month, and the second time Harvick had won a race with a last lap pass after he beat Jimmie Johnson in the final turn at Fontana in March.
