Martin Prado To 15-Day Disabled List With Staph Infection

Atlanta's outfield problem just got a little worse as Martin Prado has landed on the 15-day disabled list with a staph infection in his right calf. Prado returned to home to Atlanta and had a surgical procedure to clean out the infection.

Prado was out of the lineup on Wednesday and Thursday with a sore left knee but the infection seems to be unrelated. Fredi Gonzalez said that Prado had been dealing with the infection on the calf but Florida Marlins doctors determined that the infection was getting worse thus his return home for the surgical procedure.

"We knew it was there, it was an infection and we were trying to treat it," Gonzalez said. "He was out of the lineup for the contusion where the ball hit him."

To take Prado's place on the active roster, infielder Brandon Hicks was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett. Prado joins Nate McLouth and Jason Heyward on the disabled list as Atlanta's entire regular outfield is out with various injuries.
