Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Tommy Hanson will miss the team's Friday game against the Texas Rangers due to a right shoulder injury, the team announced during its Thursday night game. He'll be evaluated in the coming days, with the disabled list a possibility if his tendinitis is worse than it sounds.
Promising prospect Randall Delgado will get the start, which Baseball Nation's Jeff Sullivan views as a silver lining. Before the season SB Nation Atlanta ranked him as the franchise's No. 3 up-and-comer, looking forward to a potential 2011 appearance in the majors. Voila, y'all, though you hate to see the opportunity come at Hanson's expense.
Here's hoping Hanson doesn't have to miss more than one venture through the rotation, as the bearded righty has been second to only Jair Jurrjens in ERA+ among starters on the year, leading the starting staff in WHIP.
