2011 Women's College World Series, Florida Vs. Arizona State: Gators Could Make History

SEC teams have been a rarity in the Women's College World Series, until the last few years at least. The 2011 Florida Gators are making their second appearance in the past three years after being swept in 2009 by the Washington Huskies. They'll take on the Arizona St. Sun Devils, to whom they dropped a 6-5 thriller Friday night.

No. 1 overall seed Arizona State has been a monster, sweeping all three rounds of the NCAA softball's championship tournament so far. They powered their way through the Tempe Regional by the combined score of 24-1 before slipping past Texas A&M in the Super Regional round, then topped the Oklahoma Sooners 3-1 and Baylor Bears 4-0 in the WCWS.

Florida has been shaky at times, but capable of breaking offensive records when they're on the same page. Though they dropped a close game in the Gainesville Regional, they also obliterated the Oregon Ducks by 15 total runs and the Alabama Crimson Tide by 21 along the way -- both of those in mere two-game sets.

Players to watch include Florida firestarter Michelle Moultrie, who's hitting .611 with five home runs since the WCWS began Thursday, and ASU's Annie Lockwood, who hit the winning single against Florida the first time around, along with a homer, another hit and two walks.
