The Florida Gators' bid to become the first SEC team to capture Women's College World Series gold has taken a severe hit, with the Arizona St. Sun Devils riding out to a 14-4 victory in Game 1. Florida also got a taste of its own medicine after having blown out Alabama in its two previous games.
Gators ace Hannah Rogers was lit up for nine runs in just over two innings, and ASU led by two touchdowns before Florida applied late-inning cosmetics. Dallas Escobedo threw a complete game, giving up just five hits along the way, with most of those produced after the W was in hand.
