Atlanta Dream Sign Veteran Guard Kelly Mazzante, Waive Brittainey Raven

The Atlanta Dream today announced the signing of veteran guard Kelly Mazzante to a contract. To make room for her on the roster, Atlanta waived reserve guard Brittainey Raven. Marynell Meadors on the move:

Kelly is the type of player that can step up and contribute right away. It was a difficult decision to let Brittainey go, but I am excited about what Kelly brings to our team.  She is a veteran leader and an outside scoring threat that can stretch the defense.  Her experience and ability to spot up and knock down the shot is going to help us."

Mazzante is a six-year veteran who won a WNBA championship with Phoenix in 2006. She tore an ACL while overseas during the 2009-10 offseason and missed all of the WNBA's 2010 season. Most recently Mazzante was in training camp with the San Antonio Silver Stars but was waived prior to the start of the season.

Mazzante is a career .341 shooter from three-point range and the Dream hope that she can provide some steady shooting along with some veteran leadership to their lineup.

Brittainey Raven appeared in 23 games for the Dream last season where she averaged 1.5 points per contest.
