Injury Update: Braves Outfielder Jason Heyward

Jason Heyward was eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday, but he’ll continue to rest his injured shoulder until he’s 100%. According to this report from MLB.com’s Mark Bowman, it will be at least one more week before Heyward makes his return to the diamond. He likely won't even begin hitting balls off a tee for at least a few more days, and then he could also require a rehab game or two in the Minor Leagues to get his timing back.

With the club struggling to score runs, we need him to be back as soon as possible. Chipper Jones also weighed in on the Heyward situation. In short, the article says Chipper wants Jason to play even if he’s just at 80% because of his ability to impact the game even when he isn't completely healthy. There’s no denying the team is much more dangerous at the plate with J-Hey in the lineup.

I’m inclined to agree, but the absolute last thing the Atlanta Braves need is for their right fielder to sustain a season-ending injury.
