Derrick Lott Injured In Scooter Accident; Georgia Football Yet To Ban Scooters

OK, seriously. After the "deep laceration" suffered by Georgia Bulldogs DE Derrick Lott's right leg in a scooter accident, which certainly sounds horrifying, something has got to be done about all the scooters.

As someone with multiple scooter scars who once had to get a gruesome external fixture apparatus to hold a scooter-shattered arm together, I know and respect the menace. Lott is at least the fourth Georgia athlete to be injured while riding a scooter in the past couple years. Couple that with the multiple (MULTIPLE!) scooter-related arrests the football program has seen, and it's clear Mark Richt should just run around campus with a rickshaw.

Lott underwent surgery and is expected to miss four to six weeks, which will knock him out of at least a few preseason practices. He should be fine in time for Week 1. Lott appeared in three 2010 games, tallying seven tackles.
