The Eastern Conference leading Indiana Fever pay a visit to Philips Arena to take on the Atlanta Dream in a Tuesday afternoon game. The game tips off at Noon with the Fever coming in having lost two games in a row most recently to the Connecticut Sun 76-71 on Sunday.
The game features a match up of Eastern Conference All-Star forwards in Atlanta's Angel McCoughtry and Indiana's Tamika Catchings. McCoughtry is averaging 16.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game this season. Catchings is currently scoring at a 14.2 clip and grabbing eight rebounds per outing. Catchings was the top vote getter in the East capturing more than 20,000.
After a slow start to the season, McCoughtry had one of her best games of the year in Saturday's victory over the Chicago Sky. She finished with 24 points, four rebounds, and four steals. Like her Atlanta teammates, it was McCoughtry's defense that ignited her offense.
For much of this season, Atlanta has been one of the worst defensive teams in the WNBA. Even after their good performance on Saturday they are still yielding 83 points per contest. It is important for the Dream to turn defense into offense and to set a quick pace today against the Fever.
Atlanta is still a banged up team as both Sancho Lyttle and Coco Miller sat out Saturday's win and are considered day to day. Miller twisted her ankle during Saturday morning's shootaround while Lyttle has been sidelined with a sore back.
