According to a couple of Florida A&M players, FAMU running back Philip Sylvester is the third player to be connected to the Atlanta Falcons in what could end up maybe the nuttiest free agency period ever. Sylvester hasn't confirmed the signing, but didn't deny it while thanking his teammates for their congrats.
Sylvester is a 5-foot-9, 195-pound back who was clocked at 4.42 in the 40-yard dash at his school's pro day. In four years, he produced 2,998 yards on 599 carries, plus a number of kick returns. He closed out the 2010 season with six straight 100-yard games after dealing with injury.
He's nowhere near as big a name as Noel Devine, and he's got his work cut out for him as he'll have to compete with Devine, Gartrell Johnson and Antone Smith just to earn a spot on the roster.
