Jerious Norwood Won't Rejoin Atlanta Falcons, Says Agent

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's D. Orlando Ledbetter reports Jerious Norwood's agent says the running back's time as a member of the Atlanta Falcons is done. This won't come as a surprise to anyone, especially considering the drafting of Jacquizz Rodgers, but hopefully we can avoid trumpeting the fact that we knew this was coming like that means it's not an important story.

Sports fans do that kind of thing sometimes, and it's the worst.

Because we're talking about a supremely talented athlete who was hit by injuries over and over, who gave his best years to the Falcons and who made some pretty big and memorable plays. Since he went down early in 2010 we've been waiting for this day, and here it is.

Norwood played five seasons in Atlanta as a running back and kick returner, posting 2,907 yards from scrimmage. The best example of what was missed out on over the years: Norwood averaged six yards per carry during the Bobby Petrino era, when for some reason an aging Warrick Dunn was the feature back. See? In absolutely any story on anything, you can find a reason to get mad at Bobby Petrino.
