After a 2010 Independence Day that saw distasteful sub-90-degree highs in Atlanta, Monday's weather for the 2011 Peachtree Road Race will be more in line with more customary weather. The temperature at 6 am, or about 30 minutes before the wheelchair race begins, is expected to be 72 degrees with 84 percent humidity.
The high for the day is expected to reach 92, making for the hottest Fourth of July since 2006's edition reached 93.9. Twice in the past four years temperatures have made it into the 90s. However, 2006 also provided runners with a little bit more of a breeze than Monday's race will -- expect very little wind this time around.
There's also a small chance of precipitation throughout the day, with chance of rain hovering between 30 and 50 percent during the course of the Peachtree Road Race itself. Nothing like a post-race thunderstorm, though, right?
