The Atlanta Dream travel to Connecticut on Sunday seeking their sixth straight win and to reach the .500 mark for the first time since the season began. Over the course of their winning streak, Atlanta has climbed into fourth place in the Eastern and just four games behind the Indiana Fever for the top spot in the conference.
Connecticut enters today's game at 10-6, just 1.5 games behind the Fever and have been particularly good at home. the Sun sit at 7-1 at home and suffered their first loss on Thursday falling to Indiana 69-58. Connecticut is in the top half of the league in team defense surrendering just over 76 points a game this season and will get a stiff test from a suddenly healthy Atlanta squad.
The Dream struggled early on this season under the huge weight of offseason expectations fueled by their run to the WNBA Finals last season and the acquisition of point guard Lindsey Harding. Early injuries took their toll on Atlanta and now slowly but surely they are getting healthy and are once again looking like the team many thought they would be.
Angel McCoughtry has been brilliant during Atlanta's winning streak raising her season scoring average from 15.5 to 18.8 entering today's game. Sancho Lyttle returned to action in Atlanta's victory over the L.A. Sparks and her presence may be key as Atlanta tries to slow down Connecticut's Tina Charles who is averaging a double double at 18 points and 10 rebounds per game.
