Liberty County HS DE Melvin King Commits to Georgia State Football

The calendar has been turned to August but Georgia State football continues to roar on the recruiting trail as they picked up their 11th commitment for the 2012 recruiting cycle. Per Keith Niebuhr of Rivals.com, defensive end Melvin King of Liberty County HS is the newest prospect to give his verbal pledge to coach Bill Curry and the Panthers.

King is a 6'4, 220 pound weakside defensive end prospect with tremendous quickness out of his stance.  He has timed at 4.75 in the 40 yard dash and has very long arms.  He's an above average athlete who also played tight end for Panthers.  He is a very tackler from the defensive line position registering 51 stops in 2010.  He also has the ability to drop into coverage breaking up four passes last season.  He has a very good frame and could easily play in 255-260 pound range with college level strength and conditioning.

Junior Highlights (defensive highlights begin at 0:53):

King is the 11th prospect to commit this summer and is the 7th from the state of Georgia.  Georgia State football is expected to sign 18-20 players in February.
