Looking at the scouting reports of Pierce County High School’s Quayvon Hicks (6’2", 252), it appears there’s not a lot Hicks can’t do: At various points in his high school career he’s played defensive end, nose tackle, linebacker, tight end and fullback. A few weeks ago, however, he added “recruiting coordinator” to his laundry list of specialties, helping to bring in the monster “Dawg Night” recruiting haul that included blue-chippers John Theus and James DeLoach.
“We needed some other power house players to make it worth it, so we went to talk to other recruits,” Hicks said. “So we went on to talk to Derrick Henry, got him on board and then Tramel Terry, then Brice Ramsey. They all went up to Coach Richt and said they wanted to be Georgia Bulldogs.”
A three-star prospect who chose Georgia over Tennessee, Georgia Tech and Miami, Hicks is already bigger than anyone in the Dawgs’ 2011 backfield, bigger even than a few of their tight ends. With Bruce Figgins graduating after this year, Hicks will be in the running for the starting fullback job the moment he sets foot on campus, but perhaps more importantly, he’ll be bringing some vocal leadership to Athens as well.
