PGA Championship Leaderboard, Round 1: Rory McIlroy Even Through Front Nine

As the afternoon players make their way through Atlanta Athletic Club, latecomers Trevor Immelman and Shaun Micheel have made their mark on the top 10. Each is 3-under so far, Immelman through seven holes and Micheel through 11, putting them four off of PGA Championship pace-setter Steve Stricker.

Rory McIlroy knocked down par on hole No. 9 on a putt that swirled around the cup before settling in. His back-to-back birdies  shortly following a wrist injury providing the highlight of the young tournament.

Stewart Cink is 1-under at the end of his round, good for a 13th-place tie, while Chris Kirk has stumbled to 1-over after a double bogey on hole No. 3. Phil Mickelson likewise finished his day 1-over, as did Ross Fisher, who started out among the event's leaders.
