Dan Beebe Tells Texas A&M He Only Needs Texas Anyway, According To Report

Brent Zwerneman reports Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe has told the Texas A&M Aggies that the conference can get by just fine without them, and that the Texas Longhorns are the key to the operation anyway. According to the report, the Houston Cougars could get the call-up if the Aggies leave.

If this report is true, then either Texas A&M is going to the SEC or, um, the Atlantic Sun or something. Don't really see any way you come back from this one. Even if Beebe doesn't really believe all that, A&M having all its suspicions and qualms confirmed at once by the commish would spell the end of their relationship with the Big 12.

This really comes across as more of a parting shot than a last straw. A&M isn't going to join the SEC this weekend or anything, but expect the school to leave the Big 12 shortly. You should even be surprised if they don't!
