The Atlanta Braves are having a huge night at Turner Field. First came the retirement of Bobby Cox's No. 6, and then came the hitting parade.
Dan Uggla hit a solo-home run in the second inning to break the Atlanta Braves record for a hitting streak at 32-games. Chipper Jones smashed a 3-run homer to center to break the game wide open, and he was followed in the next inning with an opposite-field home run by Jose Constanza. Freddie Freeman hit a deep homer to center field and Dan Uggla came up next to hit back-to-back homers to give Atlanta a commanding 8-1 lead.
Carlos Zambrano had lost control of the game way before the fifth inning, but he lost control of his emotions after the two home runs. He threw back-to-back fastballs right at Chipper Jones before being ejected by Tim Timmons. The Braves briefly left their dugout, but the umpire did a phenomenal job of keeping everyone else out of trouble.
