Beloved Braves Reliever Peter Moylan May Have Thrown His Last Pitch

Terrible news came this afternoon from multiple reports indicating the Australian has both a torn labrum and rotator cuff in his right arm and shoulder. Even in a best-case scenario Moylan would be able to return in 18 months or so, but after undergoing major surgery on his back just four months ago, it may be the end of his career.

The 32-year old is set for his third year of arbitration in the off-season and there is no chance Atlanta pays him $4-6 million to undergo rehab. Perhaps a separate agreement is made to keep him for the league minimum, but we'll have to wait and see.

It really is a shame; there has not been a reliever in recent years loved as much as Moylan has. An active tweeter (@PeterMoylan), he has frequently interacted with his thousands of followers and updated Braves Country as he tried to return from his afore mentioned back surgery.

We can only hope for an incredible recovery and for Moylan continuing to pitch in 2013. If you're on Twitter, be sure to shoot him a message. Unfortunately, he might have thrown his final pitch as a Brave.
