Clemson vs. LSU odds: Spread already growing in favor of Bayou Bengals

LSU opened as three point favorites over Clemson in the Chick-fil-A Bowl, but that line has already grown to four.

USA TODAY Sports

The LSU Tigers opened as three point favorites over the Clemson Tigers in the Chick-fil-A Bowl, but that line has already risen to four, according to Oddsshark.com. The over/under has also risen to 58.5 after starting out at 57.

Both of these teams finished the season at 10-2, but Clemson was 8-4 against the spread compared to LSU's 5-7 record against the spread. Clemson was also a perfect 5-0 against the spread when playing on the road, compared to LSU's 1-3 mark on the road. Against common opponents, LSU went 2-0 against Auburn and South Carolina, while Clemson went 1-1.

Bettors seem to think that LSU's defense will be able to contain Tajh Boyd and the Clemson offense. Also, the memory of Clemson's 70-33 thrashing at the hands of West Virginia in last year's Orange Bowl could be weighing heavily on their minds. Clemson has lost five of their past six bowl appearances, with the only win in that stretch coming over Kentucky in the 2009 Music City Bowl.
