The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets opened as 9.5 point underdogs against the USC Trojans in the Sun Bowl, and that line has already risen to double digits. Most major books have Georgia Tech as a 10 point underdog against USC, according to Oddsshark.com, as most of the early action has come in for the Trojans. The over/under for the game started at 66, but has since fallen to 64.
As much as the matchup would appear to favor USC, the betting trends are not as positive. USC is only 3-9 this season against the spread, while Georgia Tech is a robust 8-5 against the spread. USC has not covered the spread once this season when playing away from the Coliseum, while Tech has a 3-2 record against the spread away from Atlanta.
Both of these teams allow a fair amount of points on defense, but the uncertainty surrounding USC's quarterback position might make this game lower scoring than some would think.
