2012 College Baseball Rankings: Georgia Tech, UGA Make Baseball America's Top 12

The Georgia Bulldogs and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets baseball teams both had strong seasons last year. They have been rewarded with Top 12 placement in Baseball America's preseason rankings.

Just as the MLB preseason is about a month away from kicking off, so too are the college baseball teams preparing for the upcoming NCAA season.

The staff at Baseball America has released their preseason Top 25 rankings and both the Goergia Bulldogs and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have placed well in the predictions for the 2012 season. The two teams are placed back-to-back, as it turns out, with Georgia placed at No. 11 and Georgia Tech at No. 12.

The Bulldogs did not place on last year's preseason rankings and finished with a 33-22 record in 2011. The Yellow Jackets make a climb from No. 20 on last year's list following a strong 42-21 season.

Georgia plays in the SEC, which accounted for three of the top four teams on this year's BA preseason list. Here are the SEC teams that made the 2012 list:

1. Florida
3. South Carolina
4. Arkansas
8. Louisiana State
10. Vanderbilt
22. Mississippi

And the ACC teams that made the list in addition to the Yellow Jackets:

9. North Carolina
16. Clemson
18. Miami
20. Florida State

It is sure to be an interesting season to watch, as both Georgia and Georgia Tech are expected to excel. They will have ample opportunity to turn some heads in 2012.
