The ACC and SEC placed a total of seven teams in the USA Today Top 25 Coaches Poll on Wednesday. It is the first poll of the season. The Indiana Hoosiers were ranked No. 1.

On the SEC side, defending national champion Kentucky checked in at No. 2, Florida Gators came in at No. 10 and conference newcomer Missouri came in at No. 16. Traditional ACC powers Duke and North Carolina were ranked eighth and 12th, respectively. Defending ACC champion Florida State is tied at No. 24 with Texas. The highest-ranked ACC team was North Carolina State, which came in at No. 6.

The Georgia Bulldogs weren't ranked in this initial poll but did receive two votes. Georgia finished 15-17 last season. Of the ranked SEC teams, Georgia will play Florida twice this season, but will only face Kentucky and Missouri once apiece. The Bulldogs will also face Indiana as part of the Legends Classic on November 19.
