Georgia Bulldogs commit Tray Matthews got an unexpected well wisher on his 18th birthday Thursday, as Bulldogs coach Mark Richt sang Matthews "Happy Birthday," for a second straight year.
According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Richt, who contacted Matthews through his coaches, sang Matthews the same song last year, when he turned 17, but went the extra mile on his all-important 18th birthday.
"Coach Richt said hello and started singing again. He tried to hit a real high note this time," Matthews told the AJC. "It was so funny. I mean, he tried real hard to get that high note. And I will give him the benefit of a doubt ... He did all right singing."
Matthews was impressed by the attention he's being paid by the Georgia staff.
"It means a lot for Coach Richt to do that," Matthews said. "They don't do it for every recruit. It shows me how much they want me.
