The Atlanta Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates resume their season-ending series Tuesday at PNC Park, and the Braves will be hoping to bounce back from a 2-1 loss.
The loss in Game 1 eliminated Atlanta from National League East contention. But with a playoff berth already locked up, the Braves would like to build momentum before heading into the postseason. Tommy Hanson will get the nod on the mound.
Hanson (13-9, 4.38 ERA) has won just once since July 30, but he is coming of a start in which he allowed two runs -- one earned -- in 5⅔ innings. In his last start against the Pirates, Hanson gave up a run on six hits in six innings and picked up the win.
Kevin Correia (11-11, 4.33 ERA) gets the start for Pittsburgh. Correia looks to finish with a 12-11 record for the third time in four seasons. He has had an up-and-down season and took the loss -- two earned runs, four hits in 4⅓ innings -- last time out against Atlanta.
Braves second baseman Dan Uggla missed Monday's game with a hand injury suffered last Tuesday during the team's playoff-clinching celebration. Manager Fredi Gonzalez was hopeful that Uggla would be able to make Tuesday's lineup.
