The Georgia State Panthers fall to 1-8 on the season after a 28-21 loss on the road to James Madison. The Panthers trailed 14-7 at the half and trailed 28-7 with 14 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
The Panthers comeback attempt started with a Rosevelt Watson touchdown pass to Emmanuel Ogbuehl that capped off an 81-yard drive and cut the lead to 28-14. Georgia State then cut the lead to 28-21 after Ben McLane found Parris Lee for a 10 yard scoring strike. Georgia State got the ball back after a James Madison missed field goal but the comeback attempt ended as McLane was sacked as time expired.
McLane completed 22-37 passes for 170 yards and a touchdown. Travis Evans finished with 18 carries for 98 yards. Ogbuehi added 71 yards on just two carries. Watson added 30 yards on the ground and a rushing score.
Michael Birdsong finished 11-23 for 119 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Dae'Quan Scott rushed for 130 yards and added a rushing and receiving touchdown.
Georgia State returns home next week for its final home game of the 2012 season against Old Dominion.
