Larry Drew and the Atlanta Hawks won't dress out the entire 19-man training camp roster for Sunday's preseason opener against the Miami Heat. Drew's reasoning is that it is too large of a number to try and get everyone in the game. Drew also said that they would look at some different combinations and some particular matchups that the team would like to use during the regular season.
Three players that are unlikely to play in Sunday's game are Zaza Pachulia, Devin Harris and DeShawn Stevenson who have all been skipping the contact portion of practice with various injuries. The team has been very cautious with the three thus far and it is unlikely that any would play without first going through a couple of full practices.
Pachulia is battling a groin injury that he suffered over the summer while playing for the Georgia National Team. Devin Harris has a sore knee and Stevenson has an undisclosed injury. None of the injuries have been deemed serious, Drew and his staff are just being cautious while bringing them along during the early part of camp.
