The Georgia Bulldogs held off the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Sunday, 57-51. Khaalidah Miller led the Lady Dawgs with 12 points, and was one of four players to score in double figures along with Anne Marie Armstrong, Jasmine James and Jasmine Hassell. Armstrong also had six rebounds and four assists.
Rutgers actually outrebounded Georgia by a significant margin (40-25), but 26 turnovers by the Scarlet Knights allowed Georgia to overcome that disparity. Georgia also shot only 39 percent from the floor, but Rutgers shot only 41 percent to match them. The Scarlet Knights were only 3-11 from the free throw line, while the Lady Dawgs were 14-24. It's not a great percentage, but the difference between the two teams was made at the line.
Erica Wheeler led Rutgers with 12 points and five rebounds, but also had six turnovers. Chelsey Lee finished with 11 points.
The 10th-ranked Lady Dawgs are now 1-0 on the season, and take on Presbyterian on Wednesday.
