Georgia opens play in the regional round of the Legends Classic with a 68-56 upset loss at home to Youngstown State. The Bulldogs struggled their way through the first half making just three field goals on their way to a 25-14 deficit. They would mount a charge in the second half behind the strong play of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

Caldwell-Pope's three with 15:30 remaining in the game cut the Youngstown State lead to 32-29. Georgia would get no closer as the Penguins would respond with a 6-0 run to once again grab some breathing room. The Bulldogs would fall behind by as many as 18 points in the second half before settling on the final tally of 68-56.

Caldwell-Pope scored a career high 27 points in the loss hitting 10-18 field goals including 5-11 from beyond-the-arc. Tim Dixon provided a spark off the bench with eight points and four rebounds. Marcus Thornton also added eight points but was just 1-6 from the field. The Bulldogs shot just 32 percent for the game and turned the ball over 15 times.

Kendrick Perry led the Penguins with 23 points, six rebounds and five assists. Kamren Belin added 17 points while Damian Eargle finished with 10 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks.

Donte Williams was in uniform for the Bulldogs but did not play for the second straight game. Georgia will continue regional round play on Thursday night when they host Southern Miss.
