Fresh off an SEC East-clinching win over Auburn, the Georgia Bulldogs host Georgia Southern Saturday at Sanford Stadium in Athens.
This week's contest against the Eagles is sandwiched between to big rivalry games for the Bulldogs. Georgia (9-1, 7-1 SEC) dismantled Auburn last week, 38-0, on the road and hosts Georgia Tech next week. The Bulldogs are playing their best football of the year, having won their last three games by a combined score of 96-19. During that stretch, quarterback Aaron Murray has completed 51 of 76 passes for 742 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions.
For Georgia Southern (8-2, 6-2 SoCon), the meeting with the Bulldogs marks its regular-season finale. The Eagles won the Southern Conference title and will advance to the FCS playoffs. GSU leads the SoCon in scoring and total offense, averaging 37.6 points and 467.3 yards per game. The Eagles are second in the conference in scoring and total defense, allowing 18.9 points and 313.9 yards per contest.
