The Atlanta Hawks will make their regular season debut Friday night when they host James Harden and the Houston Rockets. Much has changed for the Hawks since last summer's playoff loss to the Boston Celtics. Danny Ferry replaced Rick Sund as the team's GM and quickly brokered separate trades involving Joe Johnson and Marvin Williams. The moves broke up two key pieces of the Hawks' core but substantially cleared up the team's financial outlook.
Josh Smith, Al Horford and Jeff Teague remain while new comers Lou Williams, Kyle Korver and Devin Harris hope to keep the Hawks in the thick of things in the Eastern Conference.
Houston made a splash earlier this week when they acquired James Harden from the Oklahoma City Thunder. Harden scored 37 points and handed out 12 assists to help the Rockets to a 105-96 win over Detroit on Wednesday.
