As the NFL season nears the home stretch, the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints meet Thursday night for a rivalry game at the Georgia Dome.
Atlanta is 10-1 this season, tied with the Houston Texans for the NFL's best record, but that one loss came two and a half weeks ago against the Saints. New Orleans took an 11-point lead into the fourth quarter and held on for a 31-27 victory at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The Saints need to win Round 2 to keep pace in the NFC Wild Card race. New Orleans is a game back of the NFC's final playoff spot.
Elsewhere in the NFC South this week, the Carolina Panthers hit the road for a contest against the hapless Kansas City Chiefs, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers collide with the Denver Broncos at Mile High Stadium. Tampa Bay is currently tied with the Seattle Seahawks for the NFC's second Wild Card position.
