Georgia State lost at home to Old Dominion Saturday, 53-27. The loss marks the Panthers' third straight, dropping their conference record to 1-6 and 1-9 overall. Georgia State turned the ball over four times, though Old Dominion had three turnovers as well.
The Panther defense also gave up 556 yards to the Monarchs. Old Dominion jumped out to a 32-0 lead at halftime. Marquel Thomas hit Taylor Heinicke with a nine-yard touchdown pass for the first score of the game and the Monarchs were successful on the two-point conversion.
Then, Tyree Lee ran for an 11-yard score later in the first quarter. Angus Harper and Larry Pinkard saw the end zone in the second quarter, and a field goal capped the first half scoring.
The Panthers traded touchdowns with Old Dominion in the second half. Rosevelt Watson scored on a three-yard run, and that was later followed by a 100-yard kickoff return by Albert Wilson.
Wilson scored again on a 93-yard pass play, and Malcolm Smith scored the Panthers' last touchdown. Unfortunately for Georgia State, It wasn't enough to make up for the 32-point hole that was set by halftime.
