Georgia's 2012-13 basketball season gets underway Friday night when the Bulldogs play host to the Jacksonville Dolphins. Mark Fox begins his fourth season as the head coach of the Bulldogs and has a 50-46 record. Georgia returns four starters from last season's team that finished 15-17 and will be led by sophomore guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope who was also named to the preseason Wooden Award list.
Georgia defeated Division II opponent Young Harris college in an exhibition game 86-52. Fox is hoping that the additions of freshman Charles Mann, Kenny Gaines and Brandon Morris will provide the Bulldogs with much more depth than last year.
Jacksonville returns three starters from a team that went 8-22 a season ago. This game will provide the Bulldogs with a tune up of sorts before they begin play in the Legends Classic where they will host Youngstown State and Southern Miss before traveling to New Jersey to take on top ranked Indiana.
