Georgia Tech opens its second season with Brian Gregory at the helm Friday night against Tulane at the brand new and sold out McCamish Pavilion. The Yellow Jackets are poised to take a step forward after finishing 11-20 last season.
The Yellow Jackets return all five starters from a year ago but it is the newcomers that are arriving that should provide the team with much more depth over last season. Gregory inked an outstanding freshman class last season that includes Robert Carter, Chris Bolden and Marcus Georges-Hunt. Those three will join holdover reserves Julian Royal and Pierre Jordan to give Gregory 10 able bodied players that can contribute. That doesn't include Kentucky transfer Stacy Poole who will be eligible on December 17 after the end of the first semester.
Tonight's game is much anticipated with the opening of the McCamish Pavilion. The Yellow Jackets are bringing back many past players and legends. The entire starting five of the 1990 Final Four team is expected to be in attendance.
Tulane finished 15-16 a year ago including a 57-52 win over the Yellow Jackets.
