Georgia Bulldogs junior backup quarterback Hutson Mason will be the first backup option for the Bulldogs against the Auburn Tigers this weekend, putting his redshirt eligibility in jeopardy.
Mason has yet to see any game action this year for Georgia, as the fifth-ranked Dawgs have thrived under the leadership of starter Aaron Murray. However, Seth Emerson of the Macon Telegraph reports that Mason would come in against Auburn if Murray is knocked out of the game.
According to Emerson, Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo informed Mason that he'd be the primary bench choice for the Bulldogs if Murray goes down, ahead of fellow signal-callers Parker Welch and Christian LeMay. In the event Murray (a junior as well) enters the NFL draft, Mason would be the probable leader on the Georgia depth chart for 2013.
The Bulldogs will seek their fourth straight victory Saturday, and Auburn is hoping for its first SEC win of the 2012 season.
