Georgia State will try to bounce back from a heartbreaking loss at Troy when the Panthers square off against Southern Miss Tuesday night at GSU Sports Arena in Atlanta.
Against Troy on Saturday, Georgia State (5-5) blew a 56-51 lead with 1:47 left. The Trojans scored the final six points to claim a 57-56 victory. The Panthers shot just 65.2 percent from the free-throw line and connected on 3 of 13 shots from three.
Freshman guard R.J. Hunter has played well for Georgia State this season, averaging 14.0 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Devonta White and Manny Atkins are also scoring in double-figures for the Panthers, averaging 14.9 and 13.1 points per game, respectively.
Southern Miss (7-3) enters the game coming off a 48-point win over Grambling State. Dwayne Davis has been the best player for the Golden Eagles this season, averaging 14.1 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.
