Six starters sat out practice for the Carolina Panthers due to injury on Wednesday: Linebacker James Anderson (back), defensive tackle Dwan Edwards (wrist), safety Charles Godfrey (back), wide receiver Brandon LaFell (toe), tight end Greg Olsen (back) and running back Jonathan Stewart (ankle). The status for each player remains unclear for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. Carolina enters that contest at 3-9 on the year.

LaFell and Anderson were among Panthers injured in last Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The severity of LaFell's injury was unknown, according to the Charlotte Observer, but Carolina coach Ron Rivera described it as a sprained foot. LaFell was seen in a walking book Monday morning. Anderson was poked in the eye, and his eye showed serious swelling after the game. Even worse, fourth-year free safety Sherrod Martin tore his ACL against the Chiefs. Carolina placed him on injured reserve Tuesday.

Sunday's game is set for 1PM EST in Charlotte. It will be televised on Fox.
