The state of Georgia does football but in the 2011-2012 season, they showed that they don't do basketball. The Georgia Bulldogs are in 10th place in the SEC with a 12-12 overall record but a 3-7 conference record. They've won two games in a row, including a big win over No. 18 Mississippi State, but they've lost four of their last six. On Wednesday, they face off against the South Carolina Gamecocks on the road in Colonial Life Arena. South Carolina is in dead last place in the SEC with a conference record of 1-9 and a overall 9-15 record.
Georgia is led by freshman guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who averages 14.5 points per game, and senior guard Gerald Robinson, who averages 14. The Bulldogs have been a streaky team in the 2011-2012 season, having gone on a three-game winning streak, a five game winning streak as well as two four-game losing streaks and a three-game losing streak. They have a shot for another winning streak with a win over the Gamecocks.
At the same time, Georgia Tech has struggled in the ACC. They have a 9-15 overall record and a 2-8 conference record which puts them in second-to-last place ahead of Wake Forrest, who they face on Wednesday on the road in North Carolina. This is the first of two games that the Yellow Jackets will face off against the Demon Deacons.
The Yellow Jackets are led by junior forward Glen Rice Jr., who averages 13.1 points per game, and junior guard Mfon Udofia, who averages 10 points per game. They've lost seven of their last eight games and are looking to head into their final stretch of the season with a win.
