Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets basketball coach Brian Gregory has suspended junior forward Glen Rice Jr. indefinitely for reasons that have not yet been made public, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Ken Sugiura. Rice was suspended for the first three games of this season as well.
Rice was the team's leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 13 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per game. His absence, and the absence of center Nate Hicks, who is sick with mononucleosis, will not help the ACC's last-place Yellow Jackets defeat the Virginia Tech Hokies on Saturday afternoon. The team's next leading scorer is junior guard Mfon Udofia, who is averaging 10 points per game.
The Yellow Jackets have lost eight of their last nine games and with only eight scholarship players, not counting two players who were walk-ons that later received scholarships, they may not win any of their final five games this season.
