The Atlanta Hawks were defeated for only the third time all season at home as they fell 98-87 to the Philadelphia 76ers. This battle between two the best teams in the Eastern Conference was not as close as the final score indicated. The 76ers started to run away with this game as they outscored the Hawks by 20 points between the second and third quarters.
The Hawks made a comeback attempt in the fourth quarter but they could never get close enough to challenge the 76ers. The 76ers were able to spread the scoring around with five players scoring in double figures with rookie Nikola Vucevic leading the way with a career-high 15 points, and it certainly helped that they shot 50 percent from the field.
The Hawks had a tough time shooting the ball tonight as they were 43 percent from the field and tried to use the three-point shot to get back in this game, but that did not work as they went only 5 of 15 from beyond the arc.
The Hawks did get solid performances from Jeff Teague who scored 21 points, Joe Johnson chipped in with 16 points and Ivan Johnson scored 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds off of the bench. Those three players were the offense for the Hawks Saturday night and it was not enough to counter the hot shooting 76ers.
